19th-century Dutch surnames

There are two Dutch entomologists with similar names who were alive at roughly the same time. One is Samuel Constantinus Snellen van Vollenhoven (1816–1880) and the other is Pieter Cornelius Tobias Snellen (1832–1911). In species descriptions, the describer of a species is generally listed with his or her surname and the year of publication in the form "Snellen, 1875". Would Samuel Constantinus's surname be considered Snellen? Thanks,  SchreiberBike | ⌨  21:52, 24 September 2017 (UTC)

"van Vollenhoven" looks to be the surname not just Snellen. To be sure, there will be two relevent documents, a birth certificate registered with the municipality will indicate the given name. The name of the father will also appear there. Also in 1811 all surnames had to be registered, so then you can determine whether "van Vollenhoven" or "Snellen van Vollenhoven" is correct. Our article says Sellen, which is probably wrong. Also Vollenhove is the name of a town that would be the origin of the name. This is not the place it says he was born, so it is not just a descriptive suffix. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 23:44, 24 September 2017 (UTC)
However this website indicates the surname is "Snellen van Vollenhoven", based on parents and sisters names: [1]. The extra long family name appears to have originated when Francois van Vollenhoven married Margarita Cornelia Snellen in 28 april 1782 in Rotterdam.[2] (all these sources need to be checked as they are potentially unreliable) Graeme Bartlett (talk) 23:59, 24 September 2017 (UTC)
@Graeme Bartlett: Thanks for the information. I had hoped there was an easy way to distinguish between the two, but I'd seen both referred to as only as Snellen. That may be an error or it may not. Keep up the good work.  SchreiberBike | ⌨  22:37, 25 September 2017 (UTC)

WikiProject Women in Red/The World Contest

Hi. In November The Women in Red World Contest is being held to try to produce new articles for as many countries worldwide and occupations as possible. There will be over $4000 in prizes to win, including Amazon vouchers and paid subscriptions. If this would appeal to you and you think you'd be interested in contributing new articles on Dutch women during this month please sign up in the participants section. If you're not interested in prize money yourself but are willing to participate and raise money to buy books about women for others to use, this is also fine. Help would also be appreciated in drawing up the lists of missing articles. If you think of any missing articles for your project please add them to the appropriate sub list Missing articles. Thankyou, and if taking part, good luck!♦ Dr. Blofeld 10:10, 16 October 2017 (UTC)

List of honors?

I have run across several women through the years whose biographies say they were recognized for their contributions by the Dutch Queen/King. Is there a list or searchable gazette like the British Birthday Honours where one can find this information? Since most of these women are in the Caribbean, it is really tough to find other newspaper sources that would provide information about it. SusunW (talk) 00:34, 6 November 2017 (UTC)

Disambiguation links on pages tagged by this wikiproject

Wikipedia has many thousands of wikilinks which point to disambiguation pages. It would be useful to readers if these links directed them to the specific pages of interest, rather than making them search through a list. Members of WikiProject Disambiguation have been working on this and the total number is now below 20,000 for the first time. Some of these links require specialist knowledge of the topics concerned and therefore it would be great if you could help in your area of expertise.
