Project New York City

WikiProject New York City is a project to better organize information in articles related to New York City. This page and its subpages contain the suggestions and opinions of interested contributors; it is hoped that this project will help to focus and coordinate the efforts of all.

To help, please inquire on the discussion page and see the to-do list there.


This WikiProject aims primarily to coordinate, organize and develop all Wikipedia activities concerning the Big Apple.


The parents of this WikiProject are WikiProject Cities, and Wikipedia:WikiProject United States whose relevance is somewhat limited vis-a-vis documenting a single very large city and the many communities within it.

At a state level, the parent of this project is WikiProject New York.

Naming conventions



  1. Standardization, building and consensus nomenclature for neighborhood articles.
  2. Standardization of articles relating to the New York City Subway.

Best known for creating performing arts center in Port Authority Bus Terminal, helping to lead the Historic Districts Council, and his transportation advocacy, including the fight to improve Pennsylvania Station (New York City) and the New York City Subway. Fought to landmark the Waldorf Astoria New York's interiors, preserve the Bronx's historic neighborhoods, and raise awareness about Untermyer Park and Untermyer Fountain. Organized the commemoration of Penn Central Transportation Co. v. New York City's 40th anniversary. Worked alongside Simeon Bankoff and Justice Rosalyn Richter. Named "Emerging Leader in Transportation" by the Rudin Center for Transportation Policy & Management.   • Tallest buildings in Queens. Please create a page that links the NYC tallest buildings page to Queens' tallest buildings. There are enough new skyscrapers going up now in Queens (mainly Long Island City) that it deserves its own page to cover them all. The NYC tallest page can still contain information on Queens, but the new page will be more expansive and focus on just Queens. (History of Queens skyscrapers, completed, under construction and proposed)
  • United Neighborhood Houses, a membership organization of 28 settlement houses in New York City. It provides a collective voice for those agencies, performing advocacy to support policies and funding as well as political activism to benefit the settlement houses.   • Russian Samovar (ru:Русский самовар, web), restaurant formerly owned by Joseph Brodsky and Mikhail Baryshnikov, meeting point of Russian literary and art circles in NYC) --Off-shell (talk) 10:22, 18 July 2015 (UTC)
  • Darlington Hotel collapse, a 1904 disaster which killed 5 people. A nine-story building under construction at 6th Av and 46th St collapsed while it was under construction. An enquiry blamed flaws in the cast iron construction technique. Pburka (talk) 01:34, 4 March 2018 (UTC)
