Ousala Aleem (born July 3, 1982), also known as Prestley Snipes and FD, is a Platinum selling[1] and Grammy Award Nominated[2] songwriter,[3] filmmaker,[4] director,[5] producer,[6] entertainment manager,[7] photographer,[8] author and entrepreneur. As a filmmaker and director for over 15 years, Ousala has worked with some of music's top artists and has 4 RIAA certified gold and platinum plaques[9] to his credit. Ousala is best known for his independent film Criminals Gone Wild[10] and for introducing ILoveMakonnen[11][12][13][14] to the music scene.

Early life

Aleem was born in Brooklyn, New York. He started in the entertainment business through his uncles Taharqa Aleem[15] and Tunde Ra Aleem,[16] who have worked with Jimi Hendrix, New Kids On The Block, and Wu Tang Clan. In 2004, Ousala attended Brooklyn Public Network in Brooklyn, New York and released a public access show called FDTV.[17] In 2005, Ousala released his first independent film titled "FDTV: Volume One".[18][19] In 2007, Ousala released his second independent film titled Criminals Gone Wild.

Ousala appeared on The O'Reilly Factor[20] on December 12, 2007 in response to his film Criminals Gone Wild. Ousala was also featured on several CNN segments regarding Criminals Gone Wild[21][22][23] in 2007. In 2014, while managing the career of ILoveMakonnen, Ousala was featured in a Billboard video segment called My City: Atlanta | The Juice.[24] Ousala was also featured in HBO series Vice (magazine)'s Noisey music documentary titled "Noisey Atlanta - The Psychedelic and Bizarre World of iLoveMakonnen".[25]

Entrepreneur

In September 2009, Aleem started web-based media company ILP Network, LLC and launched ilpvideo.com.[26] In 2015, during a WQHT radio interview, producer Sonny Digital credits ILP[27][28] as the website where he discovered ILoveMakonnen's music, which led to their 2014 collaboration on the Platinum selling and Grammy Awards Nominated Tuesday (ILoveMakonnen song), which later featured Drake.

Music industry

In November 2011, after responding to an email sent to ILP Video, Ousala signed iLoveMakonnen to a management agreement. By 2012, Ousala shot numerous impromptu music videos for iLoveMakonnen, which led to gaining the attention of producer Mike Will Made It. By 2013, Ousala secured a co-publishing deal for iLoveMakonnen with Mike Will Made It and Warner/Chappell Music. In 2014, Ousala secured iLoveMakonnen's record deal with Drake's OVO Sound/Warner Bros. Records. In 2014, Ousala moved to Los Angeles to sign a publishing deal as a songwriter with Warner/Chappell, after co-writing and publishing the hit song Tuesday (ILoveMakonnen song). Ousala has worked with many top producers and artists including Drake,[29] Mike Will Made It,[30] Zaytoven,[31] Polow Da Don, Metro Boomin, Sonny Digital, ILoveMakonnen,[32] 2 Chainz, Noah "40" Shebib, Cap1,[33] DJ Spinz, Dun Deal, Soulja Boy,[34] Shawty Lo,[35] Gucci Mane,[36] Waka Flocka Flame, Wayne Wonder, Rae Sremmurd, Trinidad James,[37] Safaree Samuels,[38] Wiz Khalifa, Snoop Dogg, Neo Da Matrix and many more. He earned his first platinum plaque,[39] with Drake, while managing and developing ILoveMakonnen. In 2015, Ousala was nominated for a Grammy Award[40] for his co-writing,[41] production and publishing contribution on the Tuesday (ILoveMakonnen song). In 2016, Ousala was honored[42] at the 29th Annual ASCAP Rhythm And Soul Music Awards for Tuesday (ILoveMakonnen song), which was among the top ASCAP songs on the 2015 year-end charts. In 2016, Dutch DJ Burak Yeter released a cover of Tuesday (ILoveMakonnen song). Since then, Tuesday (Burak Yeter song) has become one of the top selling International Dance songs of 2016-2017 and has gone Diamond in France and Platinum in Austria, the Netherlands, Russia, Germany and Switzerland.

In July 2017, Ousala published his first book titled "How To Make It In The Music Business: Using Social Media Marketing To Build A Large Following".[43]
