Frog City Software, Inc. was an American video game developer based in San Francisco, California. The company was founded by Rachel Bernstein, Bill Spieth and Ted Spiethin in October 1994.[1] On May 8, 2003, following the release of Tropico 2: Pirate Cove, Frog City Software was acquired by Take-Two Interactive.[2] On January 25, 2005, Take-Two Interactive announced the opening of publishing label 2K Games, which would henceforth manage their development studios, including Frog City Software.[3]

On June 6, 2006, following the 2005 Hot Coffee controversy for Take-Two Interactive, Frog City Software's in-development game on drug trafficking, Snow, was cancelled.[4] It was presumed that the moved occurred because Take-Two Interactive wanted to "clear up its image".[5] Frog City Software shut down later that year.[2] Most of the company's staff, including the three founders, established Sidecar Studios as a successor, which shut down again the following year with no games released.[2]
